As far as I'm concerned most teachers would make better teacher interns than teachers and thus make less money than the teacher.
I would far rather see a class of sixty students headed by a teacher and two interns than a unionized system of teachers where the mediocre/interns receive both pay and tenure equal to the accomplished teacher.
Studies have indicated that 10,000 hours/5yrs of real world work experience is necessary to bring about a skilled professional.
